FAQ
How many cameras will there be?
For weddings we recommend a minimum two camera two shoot. One manned handheld camera and one camera fixed on a tripod getting general shots. Our filmmakers are very experienced and aim to blend into the scenery in order to capture the spontaneity and spirit of the day. For other types of film, the number of cameras will be based around the needs of your event and our brief.

What format will it be on?
Memory Box Productions can provide any format you need. We recommend DVD as it is currently the most prevalent domestic format. It’s also convenient and quick to reproduce and send as gifts.

How much will a Memory Box Production cost?
That depends on the film you want to make: its length, sophistication, number of interviews, filming days and number of cameras required etc, although we do offer a range of pre-made packages for wedding recording. We offer a wide range of budgets to suit your needs. For a rough cost estimate, please contact us directly.

Do you use special lighting?
For an interview we may use basic lighting if it’s required. However at weddings and parties it is impractical and most venues don’t allow it for reasons of safety and insurance. Memory Box Productions doesn’t recommend extra lighting as it will cost you more money and takes away from the spontaneity of your celebration.

How do you operate sound?
Our documentary making experience has led us to favour the use of radio mics and onboard directional camera mics. It means that sound is picked cleanly, reliably and in an unobtrusive fashion.

What extra items can I include in my film?
Memory Box Productions loves archive material and finds that it really adds depth to the video so we encourage you to suggest any photographs, cinecamera or home video footage, music and pictures which might be relevant. It tells your story, shows your family history and allows people who perhaps can’t be there in person to still appear in your film.

Can you make a Memory Box Production film for someone in secret, without them knowing?
Yes, many of our films are done as a surprise. It’s amazingly exciting to spring a life-story on a loved one, and something that our careful, discreet planning will ensure takes place.

Will there be a soundtrack?
Yes, if desired. Music is a vital element of any film and we welcome your ideas and suggestions. This works particularly well for wedding films as all couples have a piece of music that is particularly symbolic to them.

Why should I commission you to make my film rather than any of your competitors?
Memory Box Productions can deliver the best product because our experience is unique: we are a team of professional film-makers with a track record in making consistently high- quality programmes for world-renowned broadcasters like the BBC, Channel Four, ITV, Five and the Discovery Channel. None of our competitors offers this calibre of TV experience or our track record in broadcast programmes. We can also offer all-female videographer teams should this be a requirement.

How quickly can you make a Memory Box Production Film?
That depends on a number of factors: such as how much material it will include and the schedule and location of you and the other participants. We suggest at least five weeks from green-light stage to delivery. However, all of us are used to working to very tight deadlines, so we are completely flexible and can deliver a finished film according to your wishes.

How long are your films?
That depends on you. We’ve made films from three minutes to ninety minutes. We will work together to ensure that your film is the optimal length for the topic and style of the content.

Can you film before the event itself?
Yes. Memory Box Productions can film any part of the preparation for your event, for example the first dress fitting for your wedding, or final rehearsals for your play or concert.

How much influence and involvement can I have in the creative process?
Memory Box Productions always remembers that this is your film and whilst we do need you to spend some time preparing materials for us, checking over footage and deciding who and what you want in the film, we will endeavour to do the rest. Some people like to get very involved whilst others want us to take the whole thing on for them. We use all of our professional expertise to guide you and use as many of your ideas as is practically and financially possible. And for those clients who are very busy we will put the hours in so that you don’t have to.

When will we receive the finished film?
A wedding film will normally be delivered to you within a month of the ceremony. For all other Memory Box Films we will endeavour to work to your needs and timelines. We will email progress updates and notify you as soon as it’s ready. If you need to make any changes you can let us know up to 7 days after your film has been delivered. Depending on their significance, any material mistakes on our part will be amended free of charge, but for any additions or significant changes our normal studio rates will apply.

Copyright Issues
Music in films requires the necessary clearances that Memory Box Productions will arrange by obtaining a European Copyright Licence. The copyright for the final produced film will rest with us. We will keep the masters indefinitely and can always provide you with additional copies but we strongly suggest you purchase as many as you think you will need when the film is complete as it’s the cheapest way to do it.

Do you ever do videos that celebrate more than one person?
We create videos for wedding anniversaries that honour a couple; and we film videos that celebrate a group of individuals, say, a football club, or a corporate team, or even a office party. The more, the merrier!
